Think Quest is a worldwide project which has effectively promoted team work at the school level. Collaboration is a critical job skill and new tools like 'Think Quest' allow one to model and develop the skill online. It is a free teaching tool that allows schools to easily integrate project learning and technology into their curricula. It provides a protected, student-friendly learning environment and gives access to a wealth of exemplary projects created by teachers and global projects designed by Oracle Education Foundation partners, including National Geographic, the Chicago Field Museum, and the British Council. It provides ample opportunities for students and teachers to collaborate with peers all over the world. Besides, there are opportunities for students to develop key 21st century skills, including technology, communication, cross-cultural understanding and teamwork skills. It is a forum for students to create and share content with an authentic global audience, motivating them to produce their best work. 'Think Quest' provides a teacher-mediated environment that helps students learn appropriate online behavior.
Teachers were given hands
on training by the Oracle Education Foundation on 23-09-2012. Usage of
individual icons and aspects of the website were demonstrated. It worked as
Collabrative Learning and sharing of knowledge – a link between teacher and
students, students and students and it also connected schools across the world.
The teachers selected a group of students at each level and chose various
topics at a global level.
Implementation
Students came together
and learnt interactive skills and showed sincere efforts to work as a team. It
also highlighted their latent talent and made the projects a success. It
provided students with an experience of participating in a highly structured,
hands-on learning project that challenged students to apply critical thinking,
communication, and technology skills as they solved a real-world problem. It
was a fun and engaging learning opportunity that helped students hone important
21st century skills. It gave students the chance to present a solution to a
problem in a unique and innovative way, using their choice of technology. It
gave access to a friendly, step-by-step tutorial to help students best apply
their critical thinking, communication, and technology skills as they worked
through their entries. It created an opportunity for students/teachers to meet
and collaborate with their peers in other schools, states, or countries. It
provided a platform for students/teachers to compete against their peers from
all over the world.
